ٱلتَّكْوِير

At-Takweer

(The Overthrowing)

بِسْمِ ٱللَّٰهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful

Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 1

إِذَا ٱلشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ

When the sun is rolled up.
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 2

وَإِذَا ٱلنُّجُومُ ٱنكَدَرَتْ

When the stars are dimmed.
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 3

وَإِذَا ٱلْجِبَالُ سُيِّرَتْ

When the mountains are set in motion.
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 4

وَإِذَا ٱلْعِشَارُ عُطِّلَتْ

When the relationships are suspended.
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 5

وَإِذَا ٱلْوُحُوشُ حُشِرَتْ

When the beasts are gathered.
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 6

وَإِذَا ٱلْبِحَارُ سُجِّرَتْ

When the oceans are set aflame.
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 7

وَإِذَا ٱلنُّفُوسُ زُوِّجَتْ

When the souls are paired.
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 8

وَإِذَا ٱلْمَوْءُۥدَةُ سُئِلَتْ

When the girl, buried alive, is asked:
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 9

بِأَىِّ ذَنۢبٍۢ قُتِلَتْ

For what crime was she killed?
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 10

وَإِذَا ٱلصُّحُفُ نُشِرَتْ

When the records are made public.
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 11

وَإِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ كُشِطَتْ

When the sky is peeled away.
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 12

وَإِذَا ٱلْجَحِيمُ سُعِّرَتْ

When the Fire is set ablaze.
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 13

وَإِذَا ٱلْجَنَّةُ أُزْلِفَتْ

When Paradise is brought near.
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 14

عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌۭ مَّآ أَحْضَرَتْ

Each soul will know what it has readied.
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 15

فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِٱلْخُنَّسِ

I swear by the galaxies.
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 16

ٱلْجَوَارِ ٱلْكُنَّسِ

Precisely running their courses.
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 17

وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ

And by the night as it recedes.
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 18

وَٱلصُّبْحِ إِذَا تَنَفَّسَ

And by the morn as it breathes.
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 19

إِنَّهُۥ لَقَوْلُ رَسُولٍۢ كَرِيمٍۢ

This is the speech of a noble messenger.
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 20

ذِى قُوَّةٍ عِندَ ذِى ٱلْعَرْشِ مَكِينٍۢ

Endowed with power, eminent with the Lord of the Throne.
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 21

مُّطَاعٍۢ ثَمَّ أَمِينٍۢ

Obeyed and honest.
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 22

وَمَا صَاحِبُكُم بِمَجْنُونٍۢ

Your friend is not possessed.
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 23

وَلَقَدْ رَءَاهُ بِٱلْأُفُقِ ٱلْمُبِينِ

He saw him on the luminous horizon.
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 24

وَمَا هُوَ عَلَى ٱلْغَيْبِ بِضَنِينٍۢ

And He does not withhold knowledge of the Unseen.
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 25

وَمَا هُوَ بِقَوْلِ شَيْطَـٰنٍۢ رَّجِيمٍۢ

And it is not the word of an accursed devil.
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 26

فَأَيْنَ تَذْهَبُونَ

So where are you heading?
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 27

إِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا ذِكْرٌۭ لِّلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

It is only a Reminder to all mankind.
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 28

لِمَن شَآءَ مِنكُمْ أَن يَسْتَقِيمَ

To whoever of you wills to go straight.
Surah 81 - At-Takweer - 29

وَمَا تَشَآءُونَ إِلَّآ أَن يَشَآءَ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ

But you cannot will, unless God wills—The Lord of the Worlds.
Summarized notes on Surah At-Takweer

The soul will be asked about its deeds on the Last Day, after resurrection. Muhammad (PBUH) isn't mad. This (Quran) is a reminder to man. You will not be rightly guided unless God wills. God is the Lord of all creations.
